FAQ

Q: Do I need to stop taking my current medications to receive Ketamine therapy?

A: In most cases, you do not need to stop using your current medication. In fact, it is encouraged to continue a regimen of antidepressants while you are receiving treatment to improve symptom relief even further if you are suffering from anxiety or depression.

Q: What are the side effects of Ketamine treatment?

During the infusion, patients may experience mild hallucinations or dissociative feelings (feeling as if you are outside of your body). In addition, patients may experience dizziness, nausea, heightened anxiety, impaired vision and motor control, impaired short term memory, numbness in the extremities, feelings of being ‘high’ or an increased sensitivity to the environment. If uncomfortable, these can be treated during the procedure. Physical symptoms include increased blood pressure and heart rate, both of which are also closely monitored throughout the procedure.

Side effects resulting from the infusion subside after the procedure is over. Side effects between treatments are rare—they are typically present during the procedure and shortly after as the medication lingers in the body.

Q: Is Ketamine addictive?

A: Receiving infusions of low dose Ketamine through IV infusion has not been shown to result in addiction.

Q: Do I have to fast before treatment?

A: We ask that you fast for a minimum of 8 hours before the procedure.

Q: How soon will I see an improvement?

A: Unlike traditional drugs, the effects of Ketamine IV therapy are almost immediate. Most of our patients notice improvement during the treatment, while others see improvement a few hours after their first Ketamine infusion.

Q: Am I eligible to receive Ketamine infusions?

A: Patients who are not eligible to receive Ketamine Infusions are those with unstable blood pressure, irregular heart rhythms, or heart disease. Additionally, patients who have a history of drug abuse or who suffer from illnesses such as schizophrenia are not eligible. To learn more if you or someone you love is a good candidate for ketamine treatment, please call (310) 437-7399 to schedule your free consultation.

Q: How many infusions do I need to have?

A: At the Pacific Ketamine Group, we offer developed treatment protocols with a current success rate of 80%. In most cases, we offer 4-5 high dose infusions over a 30-day period at a one week intervals. This depends on the patient and our evaluation. We developed this protocol for patient comfort and to minimize disruption to work activities. In addition, intranasal ketamine maintenance is a great way to continue the lasting effects and is provided only to patients who have completed one treatment protocol.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: The standard four Ketamine IV infusion treatment course costs $2600. Each additional maintenance infusion after the four treatments costs $550. After completion of a course of IV infusions, patients are also offered intranasal or oral ketamine maintenance treatments as a part of the treatment plan.

From the doctors to the support staff, I have full trust in the Pacific Ketamine Group for taking care of me and my health. I would recommend this practice to anyone looking for a clinic that is not only experienced in ketamine treatment but also one that prioritizes patient comfortability and satisfaction.

I was recommended to Pacific Ketamine Group by a friend and was skeptical about trying ketamine for the first time. Dr. Ananth, Madona, the support staff made me feel so safe and comfortable upon my first treatment. Since then, I’ve received three treatments and have already seen a drastic difference in my overall wellbeing. Long story short, the experience with Pacific Ketamine Group far exceeded my initial expectations. I would highly recommend!

Ketamine infusions were brand new to me when I first heard about them from Dr. Kartik Ananth. That said, his expertise in both pain management and psychiatry allowed me to trust the entire ketamine infusion process. Their facility was clean and comforting and their staff was exceptionally kind. I truly felt that they prioritize the patient’s best interest, as they did mine. I’m so grateful for the care I received here and have already recommended it to my family and friends.

After researching ketamine for weeks, I finally mustered up the courage to schedule a consultation. I had my fair share of doubts about the whole process but at this point I had exhausted all other options and was more than willing to give ketamine a shot at treating my depression and PTSD. There was definitely an adjustment period in the first couple sessions but after my third session I really started to see results. I have now completed my fourth treatment and I feel so much happier and full of life. The ketamine treatments seem to be the only thing that has ever worked for me and I cannot thank Dr. Ananth enough for guiding me through this process.

I’ve been a long-term patient of this practice to treat my chronic pain and fibromyalgia. I worked with the doctors there to find treatments that would reduce my pain but I was hesitant about taking medications for an extended period of time. Dr. Ananth presented the option of ketamine infusions as an alternative treatment given my condition. After he explained how ketamine works and after I did my research on the treatment, I moved forward with the infusion and have been feeling SO much better ever since. My nurse Madonna ensured I was comfortable throughout the entire process, which made the entire experience all the better. Given how much comfort I received from the first infusion, I’m excited to schedule my second one. I recommend Pacific Ketamine Group for anyone looking for a new solution to their long-term pain!
